Grub Control in Bradenton, FL

Soft, spongy turf that lifts like loose carpet. Armadillos rooting up the yard every night. Birds and raccoons digging for protein. Those are grubs — beetle larvae chewing your St. Augustine roots from below.

We treat both curatively (when damage is visible) and preventively (when the timing is right).

Grub Control in Bradenton — Bayshore Gardens Armadillos, East Bradenton New Sod, and the Grubs Driving It All

Looking for grub control near me in Bradenton, FL? Our nearby grub treatment team eliminates white grubs and lawn worms that destroy your turf from below the surface. Local Bradenton service that diagnoses the damage, treats the infestation, and prevents grubs from coming back next season. Bradenton grub pressure clusters around two types of neighborhoods: established communities with mature turf near preserve edges, and newer East Bradenton developments where fresh sod meets former agricultural soil. Both produce consistent white grub infestations that attract nightly armadillo activity.

If you are finding cone-shaped holes across your lawn every morning, sections of turf that feel soft underfoot, or patches that lift like loose carpet, the problem starts below the surface with beetle larvae feeding on your root system.

Bayshore Gardens — Armadillo Digging as a Grub Indicator

Bayshore Gardens deals with some of the most persistent armadillo activity in Bradenton. The neighborhood sits near Sarasota Bay with enough preserved and undeveloped parcels nearby to sustain a steady armadillo population.

The armadillos are not random. They dig where they smell food, and in Bayshore Gardens that food is white grubs — the C-shaped larvae of June beetles and masked chafers that hatch in summer and feed on St. Augustine roots through fall.

Mature Bayshore lawns have dense root systems that tolerate moderate grub counts without obvious turf damage. The armadillos often arrive before the grass declines, which frustrates homeowners who see their yard torn up nightly even though the lawn still looks green. The grubs are below threshold for turf damage but above threshold for armadillo interest. Treating the grubs resolves both problems.

East Bradenton — New Sod on Old Farm Ground

The newer subdivisions east of 75th Street toward the Lakewood Ranch border are built on land that was agricultural until recently. The beetle populations that thrived in those fields continue cycling through the soil and adapt quickly to laying eggs in freshly installed Floratam.

East Bradenton new builds typically see grub damage starting in the second summer. The first-year sod has not been in the ground long enough for a full beetle lifecycle. By year two, adults from surrounding land oviposit in the new turf, and by year three the population can be well above threshold.

The compacted clay fill under most East Bradenton new builds makes things worse by keeping root systems shallow. Shallow roots mean less mass for grubs to eat through before damage is visible, and slower recovery after treatment.

Lakewood Ranch Border — Preserve Edge Pressure

The LWR communities that border Bradenton — Country Club East, River Strand, and the neighborhoods along SR-70 east of I-75 — see grub pressure similar to Palmer Ranch in Sarasota. Preserve corridors sustain beetle and armadillo populations that cycle into residential turf.

Raccoons contribute digging damage in these communities too, and ibis flocks probing the lawn during the day are another grub indicator — they feed on larvae just below the surface.

West Bradenton and Palma Sola — Lower Pressure, Not Absent

Older neighborhoods west of US-41, including Palma Sola and the streets around Riverview Boulevard, see less grub activity because mature tree canopy discourages beetle egg-laying. Beetles prefer open, sunny turf for oviposition. But sun-exposed front yards and the strip between sidewalk and road are still fair game.

Confirming Grubs

Pull at damaged turf. Lifts like loose carpet = roots are gone. Cut a one-square-foot section three inches deep, flip it, and count. Six or more C-shaped white larvae per square foot on St. Augustine is treatment threshold.

Preventive vs Curative

Preventive (mid-May through late June). One application protects the root zone all season. The right call for any Bradenton property with prior grub or armadillo history.

Curative (August through October). For active damage. Faster-acting chemistry, higher cost.

The armadillo fix: treat the grubs and armadillos relocate within two to three weeks. Trapping without removing the food source just rotates armadillos through the same yard.

Call (941) 304-1850 for a free Bradenton lawn inspection. Same-day or next-day scheduling for active grub or armadillo damage.

Compare Bradenton Service Options

Most Bradenton properties need more than one layer of protection. From this page, the next useful step is usually Bradenton lawn fertilization, Bradenton weed control, or Bradenton lawn pest control so the treatment plan matches the full property instead of one isolated pest issue.

Currently renting and have been using Adam throughout our lease. Adam is very responsive and thorough. He has come out to inspect the status of things before deciding what's best for our house. Appreciate his quick response and coming out when I reach out. We'd use Adam for future pest control needs when we move out of our lease! Highly recommend.

I can't say enough good things about this team! The technician showed up right on time, was incredibly professional, and took the time to explain everything. He didn't just treat the obvious spots — he inspected every corner of my home and pointed out small issues I never would have noticed. Adam gave honest, clear answers, no upselling. After the treatment I noticed results almost immediately.

We recently engaged this team for our pest control needs. Adam provided an extensive overview of his services and quoted a vastly more competitive rate. After two service calls we're not only impressed by Adam's expertise but the level of service is absolutely astonishing (we're from New York and that's not easily done). They deserve 10 stars and should be everyone's choice for pest care.

My fiancé and I live in Parrish — she, I, and our two dogs were attacked by Africanized killer bees. We almost lost one of our dogs and needed to remediate the situation immediately. I contacted Adam and he was quick to respond. The team came out within 24 hours, assessed the situation and executed a successful plan to eliminate the entire hive. Thank you Adam and the entire team!

Adam was amazing. He came out the same day for a very last minute call. Not only did he spend time understanding our problem and explaining everything in detail, he also came back twice to make sure we caught the mice. We appreciated his attention so much we had him come back out to spray for ants too. Excellent service — we'll definitely continue to use this company for all of our pest needs.

Absolutely shocked at the service these folks provide! Called on a Sunday morning and an actual person answered and scheduled our appointment for the next day. Came on time, took care of the issue, recommended simple care we can do on our own, and never tried to sell me a monthly service. Even went to a neighbor's house to analyze their situation without an appointment. The kind of service we've all forgotten about. Highly Recommend!!!

Questions We Hear Every Day

Quick answers from our SWFL pest pros.

How do I know I have grubs and not just dry spots?

Three tells: (1) The turf feels soft and spongy underfoot, and lifts like a loose carpet when you pull at it. (2) You see armadillo, raccoon, or bird damage in the yard — they're digging for grubs as food. (3) If you pull back a piece of turf at the edge of a damaged area, you'll see small C-shaped white larvae in the soil. Six or more grubs per square foot is treatment threshold for St. Augustine; Bahia tolerates more (around 10).

Why are armadillos tearing up my Lakewood Ranch lawn?

Because there are grubs. Armadillos eat grubs and earthworms, and they'll dig the yard apart nightly to find them. Treating the grubs removes the food source and most armadillos move on within a couple weeks. Armadillos also carry their own issues (legally protected species in FL, burrow-related damage), so lawn-level grub control is usually the right first step before considering exclusion work.

What's the difference between preventive and curative grub treatment?

Preventive treatment (imidacloprid or chlorantraniliprole) is applied in early summer before eggs hatch — it stops grubs before they do any damage. Curative treatment (different active ingredients) is applied when damage is already visible. Preventive is roughly half the cost and twice the effectiveness. If you've had grubs before, preventive the following summer is the right call.

How long until my lawn recovers from grub damage?

Once the grubs are killed, root regrowth takes 4–6 weeks. Lightly damaged areas fill back in on their own. Heavily damaged areas with dead root systems usually need re-sodding or plugging — we quote that separately after the grub treatment is done and confirmed.

How fast can you get to my Bradenton lawn?

Our Bradenton routes run daily from West Bradenton through Old Manatee, Palma Sola, and east to Lakewood Ranch. Active grub or armadillo damage gets same-day or next-day scheduling. Call (941) 304-1850 with your address.

What does grub control cost in Bradenton?

Curative one-time treatment for a typical Bradenton single-family lawn starts in the low-to-mid hundreds depending on lot size. Preventive treatment costs less and is usually bundled into our Lawn Care 7-Step program. Free inspection first — we confirm grub counts before recommending treatment.

When is grub season in Bradenton?

Eggs hatch in June-July. Damage is usually visible August-October as the grubs grow and feed heavily on roots. Armadillo digging peaks in October-November. Preventive treatment window is mid-May to late June; curative window runs August-October.

Will the treatment hurt earthworms or beneficial insects?

Modern preventive grub products (especially chlorantraniliprole) are more selective than older options and target grubs specifically without broad impact on earthworms or beneficials. Curative products are less selective by necessity. Re-entry intervals are flagged on the hangtag; keep pets off until fully dry.
